There are 107 HBCUs across the country. Most of these universities and colleges are in small southern towns, but not all! Some HBCUs are in some of the most beautiful and touristic cities in America. Visit these beautiful southern cities and fall in love. The sights alone will have you ready to commit to one of these HBCU cities.
Black Southern Belle presents 10 Southern HBCU Cities to Visit this Fall.
Nashville, TN… not only the legendary place of country music, but also home of four HBCUs including American Baptist College, Fisk University, Meharry Medical College, and Tennessee State University.
Jackson, Mississippi is home to Jackson State and Tougaloo College, two well known HBCUs.
Baton Rouge, LA is the third largest city in the state and the home of Southern University.
Visit Louisville, KY and see more than those Kentucky derbies. Louisville is the birth place of Simmons College – Kentucky, the 107th HBCU.
Atlanta, GA is the south’s favorite city. It also houses three of the most poplar HBCUs, Spelman College, Morehouse College, and Clark Atlanta University.
Little Rock, AR produced three small historically black colleges. Little Rock has Shorter College, Philander Smith College, and Arkansas Baptist College.
Houston, TX, the fourth largest city in the US and home of the Texas Southern University Tigers.
Daytona Beach, Florida is like paradise everyday. Feel like you’re going on a luxurious vacation and see the historic Bethune-Cookman University in one place!
Columbia, SC is the home of two private HBCUs; Benedict College and Allen University.
