How to Choose Wedding Wine

2016 Wedding Trends a Black Southern Belle Can't Resist 7

Pairing the perfect wine with your wedding reception meal may be the last thing on your mind when it comes to wedding planning. However, the wines you choose for your special day can only add to the deliciousness of that evening! Check out these tips by WALT and HALL wines on choosing wedding wine so your guests leave satisfied.

1.  Consider the Season.
Cool Fall Weddings or Winter wonderlands are perfect for rich, warm Bordeaux and Burgundies. Consider our HALL Coeur Cabernet, where most of the fruit is sourced from the warm St. Helena sunshine, or the WALT Sierra Mar Pinot Noir; famed vineyard on the Central Coast with racey & perfumed red fruit notes. If your wedding is being held at a beach town resort or at a friend’s poolside backyard, you’ll want to select wines that are light, easy and refreshing. We offer our HALL Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc and our WALT Blue Jay Pinot Noir that you can offer slightly chilled.

2. What’s your Wedding Style?
Are you chasing a downtown vibe or something a little more rustic and country? City socialites are looking for something sophisticated – our Kathryn Hall Cabernet is perfect. Structured, but soft tannins, lingering flavors of ripe lush fruit with a velvety texture. If country chic is your pleasure, I would suggest wines a little more earthy and harvest inspired. I would suggest our HALL T Bar T Ranch Cabernet – full of ripe black fruit flavors with hints of cocoa, and to finish our HALL Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc – a pinch of sweetness for dessert.

3. His and Hers
Personality is everything. Your wedding is probably one of the biggest parties you’ll throw in your lifetime. I would have two wines that reflect the bride and groom’s personalities. Maybe she’s a fun expressive woman with a great smile: think bright, fun blue fruit aromas and a touch of spice? Maybe he’s a warm-hearted steady friend to all: consider a rich Cabernet with hints of cocoa and fresh turned earth.
