Where are you based?

Birmingham, Alabama

Why did you decide to start a business?

I was sitting at work one day and I heard God say “candles”. I jotted it down on a sticky note and continued to work. So after about a month I started researching candles and decided to move forward with the vision God had given me and start my own candle company.

What is your favorite client story?

I had a male customer tell me that when he comes home and his wife is burning my candles it creates a mood and experience for them; that really means a lot to me because I value marriage and to know that my candles are playing a part in happy marriages brings me great joy!

Who are some of your business idols?

Any woman who has successfully entered into the entrepreneurial realm and is dominating in her industry and making executive decisions and major moves is my idol.

Do you have any mentors?

I do not have any designated mentors, but I do have a business coach who I consult with from time to time. I also visit different conferences and seminars to gain knowledge and insight from different business strategist and business consultants.

What is your favorite thing about being southern?  

Our southern culture which includes our southern cooking and southern hospitality.

What is your favorite southern dish? Favorite? As in one?

I have so many: collard greens, cornbread dressing, squash casserole, pecan pie, macaroni and cheese, and the list goes on… lol

What is the most important thing you have done to build your business?

Instituted values and a standard of excellence into my business practices, to ensure that my customers get high-quality products.

What are your favorite southern brands?

I like so many different brands; especially clothing, home décor, and local restaurants.  

What is your favorite item or piece of clothing to wear/use while doing business?

My branded t-shirts!!! I’m such a girly girl, so I dress up my t-shirts with skirts, blazers, and chunky jewelry.
