Favorite thing about being southern
I love the charm in being southern + our inherent desire to be respectful. Also, I cannot deny my love of a good monogram and preference for sweet tea on any given day, both of which are a direct result of being southern.
What is your personal life motto
To pursue passionately.
What is the most challenging professional obstacle you have had
I am actually experiencing this now. It’s determining if I should continue working for myself or transition into a more traditional work environment. In the short time that I’ve been looking for “more” traditional career opportunities, I’ve realized how incredibly saturated the market is and how cumbersome it is to actually apply for jobs. However, on the flip-side, I am also thinking about what happens if I continue to pursue my career independently. What does that really look like long term? Can I really do this?
Who is your favorite character in a “Different World”
Whitley of course.
If you could do any job, what would that be?
I absolutely would love to run full Creative Direction for a major fashion brand. Think Oliver Rousteing, Jenna Lyons and Ashley-Sergent Price.
Who do you wish you could meet?
I already met her, but it would be June Ambrose.
Our exchange was brief. However, I so wish I could sit down and really get to know her, get some
insight on the fashion industry, etc.
What would your best friend say is the best/most annoying quality about yourself?
That I am obsessively driven and a 24/7 workaholic!
What advice would you give your younger college self?
Definitely to care a little less about what people think of you. I wasted so much time and energy caring about the opinions of others that it crippled me into needing 24/7 affirmation that I was indeed worthy enough to do this or do that.
