How did you meet? We first met as teenagers while working together at Palace Pointe City Diner in Roxboro, NC. We became friends as we joked to make the workday pass by more quickly, play fought over who was going to make milkshake orders, and spent breaks together chatting over shared fruit trays. We each stopped working after going off to college, but we began dating after re-connecting through social media while in college.
How long did you date? 5 years before the proposal
How did he propose? For weeks leading up to the proposal, Randy had been talking about us going out for a nature walk—an activity we used to do in the early days of our relationship. On the morning of the proposal, he took me to the North Carolina Museum of Art so we could explore the museum’s trails and outdoor exhibits. It started to rain, so we ran to a nearby shelter. Once inside, Randy asked me if I loved him, then dropped onto one knee (while pulling the ring out of his pocket!) and told me he wanted to be with me forever. Afterwards, we went to The Cheesecake Factory, where I was surprised to see our parents waiting to celebrate with us.
When did you know he was the one? I knew he was the one when I saw the close, loving relationship he had with his family.
What is the cutest thing he has done for you without you asking? For holidays and my birthday, he makes me hand written cards, complete with pictures, rhymes, and a handmade envelope ☺
What is something you love about him that has completely changed your life? I love his “don’t worry, be happy” mentality. Just being around him has helped me learn to stress less and focus on the positive things happening in our lives.
What part of wedding planning made you crazy? Making the guest list was the craziest thing about wedding planning. Between trying to list out all of the important people in our lives, editing this list so you can at least hope to stick with your budget, and trying to gather hundreds of mailing addresses, this was definitely the hardest part of wedding planning.
What part of wedding planning could you not live without? A wedding planner is a must for me! The week of the wedding, my only responsibility was to get to my beauty appointments on time ☺. Weddings can be stressful, but in working with a planner, I was able to relax and enjoy every moment of my wedding day knowing that every detail will be taken care of by someone who understands our vision and is passionate about what they do.
What was your first thought the day after your engagement? I was still in shock that I was becoming someone’s wife, but I had an overwhelming feeling of love for Randy and excitement for the future.
What was your favorite part about the ceremony? Seeing the groom’s face as I walked down the aisle. I could see the happiness in his smile and the love that he had for me in his eyes.
What was your favorite part about the wedding? Being able to celebrate and have fun with family and friends. It was a blessing to have everyone that we care about together in the same room.
Did you do any DIY? If so, what? Using vendors on Etsy, I created and printed table numbers, menus, programs, table numbers, and a seating chart. Instead of a traditional guestbook, I decorated a birdcage and created bird-shaped note cards for guests to leave words of wisdom for the “love birds.” I also DIYed the wedding favors, which were candy filled tins with personalized labels.

What is your favorite part about being married to each other? The comfort of having a true life partner. We both know that we are committed to the relationship, we are supportive of each other’s dreams/ideas, and know that whatever troubles come our way will be faced and overcome as a team.
What did you learn about each other through the wedding planning process? We learned the importance of compromise and open communication about what we each envisioned for our wedding day.
Carmesha and Randy have the type of story that movies are made of. Featuring this couple is an honor for us and we wish them the best and know great things are coming. This story is a great way to start the weekend!
