She is a Mississippi Bred Belle based in Charlotte with the mission of making homes stylish and chic all while not breaking the bank. Learn more about her and Dwell by Cheryl Interiors below.
Your Name:
Cheryl Luckett
Business Name:
Dwell by Cheryl Interiors
What You Provide:
Interior decorating services
Where are you based?
Charlotte, NC
Why did you decide to start a business?
I believe that everyone deserves to come home to a home that they absolutely love. I knew far too many who settled for the home they had because they viewed interior design assistance as a service well out of reach. My mission is to make beautiful spaces affordable.
What is your favorite client story?
Starting out, my business began with folks I knew personally. One of my early clients hired me four separate times to decorate four spaces in her home. We nearly made it through the entire home. I appreciate the fact that she trusted me even though I had limited experience. I believe that repeat customers are one of the highest forms of compliment.

Who are some of your business idols?
Sarah Richardson, Canadian Interior Designer, Tobi Fairley, Arkansas Interior Designer and Design Educator
Do you have any mentors?
Yes, I believe that mentorship is essential to not only professional success but also critical for personal development. I have a number of seasoned Interior Designers that I depend on for guidance, advice and support.
What is your favorite thing about being southern?
Iam proud of my southern roots. I love that we southerners are known for our hospitality. Entertaining is one of my favorite things and I take pride in the fact that family and friends love to spend time in my home.
What is your favorite southern dish?
Growing up in South Mississippi only sixty miles from New Orleans meant our cuisine was heavily influenced by that New Orleans Cajun flavor. I love me some Red Beans and Rice.
What is the most important thing you have done to build your business?
The utilization of social media has been the most impactful and FREE investment Iave made in my business. Iam astounded by the connections Iave made, the opportunities Iave been afforded and the relationships that have been born out of social media.
What are your favorite southern brands?
As a big time bargain hunter, Iam not really all that brand loyal. However, when it comes to my coffee, Iam serious about my Community Coffee. Theyave finally started to stock it in Charlotte, but for the longest time my mom would ship it to me by the box.
What is your favorite item or piece of clothing to wear/use while doing business?
I love a statement necklace. You can add a striking piece of jewelry to a burlap sack and look pulled together. Itas definitely my go-to accessory.
We love all that Cheryl stands for. She is the epitome of a Black Southern Belle and uses those gifts in her personal and professional life.
