How did you meet? We met on the job through close friends.

How long did you date? 2 ½ years before the proposal

How did he propose? At Zea’s for his 30th birthday dinner with all of our family & friends.

When did you know he was the one? When he discussed OUR futures, and I realized we wanted all the same things in life ultimately.

What is the cutest thing he has done for you without you asking? I am a total Beyonce fanatic, and he managed to get me to Essence Fest unknowingly to see her. It was the most thoughtful surprise!

What is something you love about him that has completely changed your life? Terrance is so calm and relaxed. He has really taught me to worry less and take each day as it comes.

What part of wedding planning is making you crazy? Dealing with a large bridal party

What part of wedding planning can you not live without? Family and friends surrounding us, and giving us great encouragement for the future…and my self-made wedding planning binder.

What was your first thought the day after your engagement? OMG, I’m really getting married. WOW!

What was your favorite part about the ceremony? Walking down the aisle with my dad, and watching Terrance’s response to seeing me as a bride. That was a really touching moment.

What was your favorite part about the wedding? The first dance at our reception. I don’t know if Terrance and I smiled so much in our lives.

Did you do any DIY? If so, what? I customized my wedding programs, and put them together, along with my cousin.

What is your favorite part about being married to each other? The best part of being married to each other is planning your life with the person you feel the Lord himself molded for you. Waking up and falling asleep to your best friend every night is a blessing.

What did you learn about each other through the wedding planning process? Janeka- I learned that Terrance is really the world’s calmest, most optimistic man! He was the ying to my yang, and kept me serene throughout the stress of wedding planning.
Terrance- Janeka is super determined and creative. She was going to make sure our day was everything we envisioned. I don’t think there will ever be a more organized bride.

We are sooo happy to feature Janeka and Terrance. This Bayou couple is everything we think of when we think of true southern love. Black Southern Belle wishes this couple the best of luck and we are so excited to share their story!
