“I am very much a Southern girl. Sweet tea and pimento cheese make me happy.  I am not only an abstract and collage artist and lawyer by day, I am first and foremost a wife, and mother of two boys.  I grew up in Charleston, attending a creative arts school and developed an appreciation for the arts at a young age. In college, although I had a strong desire to be in the studio, I talked myself out of taking a painting course because I was afraid of making a bad grade. I opted for printmaking and sculpture instead. Those courses and a few other workshops I have taken in the past few years are my only real training.  Although I am not a classically trained artist, I appreciate how each of these experiences have taught me something about the craft and about myself. “
“My art is about painting what I love and what I feel.  I paint emotions and colors, not things typically.  Although, sometimes I do paint abstract marshes and landscapes, inspired by my southern roots on the coast. I am inspired by organic shapes, nature, and bright colors. My work has many textures, depth, and layers. I want viewers and collectors to want to dive into the painting, to touch and feel it, and explore the work with all of their senses.   I use a medley of tools—acrylics, oil pastels,  graphite, paper and remnants of art projects.  I am not afraid of getting messing and you will often find me painting with my fingers.”
