Southern Roots: Launch of Belle by Cheryl Luckett Furniture Collection

Southern Roots: Launch of Belle by Cheryl Luckett Furniture Collection

Southern roots are strong in the African American. Cheryl Luckett, a Gulfport, Mississippi native, exudes this in her life and design work and now has created a collection encompassing everything about her personal southern roots. We have some sneak peeks of her inaugural collection with Sylvester Alexander, another Black-Owned, furniture manufacturer based in North Carolina. This classic collection with bold colors is perfect for any Black Southern Belle home and we can’t wait to add some of the pieces to our headquarters. Check out the sneak peaks of the collection below and be sure share images of your home decor with using the hashtag #blacksouthernbelle

According to Luckett, It  was at Tennessee State University (Nashville, TN)“by the Cumberland’s fertile shore” that I fell in love with design. As an upperclassman I was awarded the Best Decorated Dorm Room and quickly became aware of my appreciation and desire to dwell in and create beautiful spaces. The Cumberland settee features a classic wingback design with simple lines that maximize comfort without compromising style.”

For this piece, Cheryl says, “Magnolia, named in honor of my home state Mississippi, provides a southern take on the classic banquette. It’s headboard- inspired seat back boasts a striking curved detail, bordered frame, and button tufts. This elegant piece is finished off with a pleated skirt indicative of the formality and grandeur of the Southern home.”

The inspiration behind The Park according to Luckett was, “Design is not only my passion, it’s also my purpose. My faith continues to be a driver in my professional life. The Park table references the name of my Charlotte-based church and features a classic and simplistic Parsons Table design.  This stylish, fully-upholstered piece can easily serve as an entry table, sofa table, media stand or desk, making it a multi-functional must-have!”

This beautifully bold piece is a stunner and Cheryl explains how it got started, “This French-inspired settee is the epitome of refined comfort. With a name that points to my membership in the oldest black female Greek letter organization, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Ivy settee boast an air of refinement and sophistication commonly associated with the sorority’s members.”

This bold preppy piece is one we can’t wait to see in person and Luckett describes her inspiration for it here: “My family has greatly influenced my design aesthetic.  Growing up, my maternal grandparents worked very hard and took great pride in the home they created. Sunday afternoons were spent gathered around their dining table for post-worship feasts. The Anderson banquette not only bears their last name but features strong lines inspired by the strength and character they possessed.”
