One thing I love about the holidays is living in the Lowcountry, from the warm weather to the oyster roasts, the holiday season along the Carolina coast is a special experience. With warm weather, ocean smells and oyster season, holidays have a little bit of a twist down here in the Lowcountry. When Clayton contacted me to partner with them and decorate their Island Breeze prefab home, I was more than happy to agree and give you some inspiration to create a Farmhouse Christmas with Lowcountry Style.
How to Have a Farmhouse Christmas: Lowcountry Style
Coffee Table
A coffee table is a great place to add some holiday cheer with minimal effort. A great base for a Lowcountry Christmas is a white serving tray to put a few of your favorite holiday and coastal elements. For this table, I added seashells from a local thrift store paired with my favorite note cards, holiday ornaments and more.
Hot Cocoa Bar
It may rarely get super cold in the Lowcountry, but we do love a great cup of hot cocoa as soon as it hits below 60 degrees (cold for us at least). A great way to add easy holiday style that also has a purpose is by creating a hot cocoa station on your kitchen counter. I found a few rustic buckets and hot glued an oyster shell to each to create an easy coastal holiday cocoa bar. Oyster shells are a unique decoration commonly used as home accents in the Charleston region. A hot cocoa station and a classic holiday movie are exactly how my husband and I love to spend our busy days with our new baby Jackson.
Front Porch Door
In the south, front porch living is everything. No front porch door is complete without a holiday wreath. I chose a simple magnolia wreath and added oyster shells for a classic Lowcountry farmhouse style.
Mantle
I love decorating a Christmas mantle and the Island Breeze has one built-in as a part of the home’s floor plan. It is the perfect place to celebrate the holidays with your family and add some holiday style. For a farmhouse style Lowcountry Christmas, classic creme stockings and mini oyster trees are a perfect way to add coastal style to your home. Above the mantle is a great place to put a television and watch your favorite holiday movies.
Baby Tree
This is my family’s first holiday with our new baby Jackson and we are so excited to celebrate with him. To honor this special Christmas, we created a holiday tree just for our baby. You can replicate this idea for your dog, a loved one, a new milestone in life or just to add another holiday tree to a room in your home. I created a few DIY ornaments using holiday gift tags and, of course, shiplap.
I loved the style and features in this home. You definitely need to check out the Island Breeze model on the Clayton website. This Fall, Clayton introduced a line of prefabricated homes of varying prices that feature classic “farmhouse” style features. Typical farmhouse style homes may include:
– An open floor plan with plenty of natural light and neutral colors
– Large kitchen for entertaining with farmhouse sink, stylistic pendant lighting and center island
– Sliding barn doors and woodgrain accents
– Wide plank floors
– Shiplap walls
If you are looking for an affordable, beautiful home to build a new life with your family or a first home as a working professional, these stylish farmhouse homes from Clayton give you great options at reasonable prices so that you still have room to decorate and customize to your personal lifestyle.
