As an adamant lover Lowcountry and Gullah Art, I am beyond excited about the most recent exhibit opening at the Morris Center for Lowcountry Heritage. This exhibit entitled Sharing the Chores: Works on Paper by Jonathan Green is one to not miss. If you have interest in Lowcountry heritage this exhibit explores the work of Jonathan Green and the history of homesteading and traditions in the Lowcountry and Gullah culture.
Sharing the Chores: Exhibit Explores the work of Jonathan Green
Sharing the Chores: Works on Paper by Jonathan Green opened February 16 and will displayed at the Morris Center for Lowcountry Heritage until May 25, 2019. This limited engagement is an exciting opportunity to experience Green’s vibrant color choices and bold imagery for which he has become famous.
Inspired by his experiences growing up in the Carolina lowcountry, the artist’s images reflect the values he learned in childhood from his family and neighbors in the rural community of Gardens Corner. Consisting of twelve hand-drawn lithographs and one serigraph from McKissick’s permanent collections, this show is a must-see for any Jonathan Green Fan.
