Georgia is on our mind today and love is in the air all the way from Columbus. This DC based, Georgia bred couple is one of our favorites and the groom is a close friend of our founder so it is even more special to show off. Brittany and Tony are southern sweethearts who met in high school in Columbus, GA. Fast forward to a few years and now they are engaged. This groom did everything right, from a perfect ring, to a beautiful surprise engagement in their hometown, with friends, family and loved ones all involved in the celebration. We are sooo excited for this happy couple and wish them nothing but happiness as they plan their wedding and their lives together. Take a break this Monday and read more about this Georgia bred romance.

How did you meet?
We went to high school together. He graduated two years before me so we knew of each other then but weren’t friends. We ended up reconnected a few years later when we were both visiting home.
How long have you dated?
Two years
How did he propose?
We planned a trip home to Columbus to attend his brother’s graduation…or so I thought. On Sunday after church he came to pick me up so that we could meet some friends for brunch in downtown Columbus. While on the way there our friends called to say that they were taking a stroll down by the river (an area we call the Riverwalk) and that we should come join them. At first I was resistant because I had on heels and it was at least 100 degrees outside but we went anyway. As we were walking we met up with our friends and stopped at a really pretty area with lots of flowers where Tony suggested we take a picture. We took a few in some different poses and then he said “Let’s take one more” as he got down on one knee. *cue ugly cry*
Was your proposal a surprise?
It was. I had a feeling it would happen sometime soon but I was still surprised. He even invited both of our families, my sorority sisters, and other close friends to a surprise engagement party right after, which was almost an even bigger surprise. I got to share the happiest day of my life with everyone I love.
Did he plan it by himself or have some help?
He was the mastermind. But he enlisted the help of his mom and my close friends to make it all happen.
When did you know he was the one?
I knew a few months into our relationship. We talked off and on for a couple years before we officially starting dating so from the time our relationship began I knew he was special. I remember one specific night where we were chatting about love and life and after the conversation finished we sat there for at least five minutes just staring into each other eyes. I knew then I was where I was meant to be.
What is the cutest thing he has done for you without you asking?
Its hard for me to pick the cutest thing. Recently I told him I wasn’t feeling well so he volunteered to pick up some cold medicine for me. When he came back not only did he have the medicine but two bouquets of flowers and my favorite ice cream as well 🙂
What is something you love about him that has completely changed your life?
He makes me laugh. Every single day. It was in those moments when I was laughing that I realized how happy I was. Theyre something special about someone who isn’t afraid to be themselves and look silly while doing it.
What is your favorite thing about being a southern couple?
We have a lot of the same values, especially when it comes to the importance of family.
What part of having a southern wedding are you looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to adding those special southern touches to my wedding. I think there are so many little things you can do to make your wedding unique and I’m looking forward to adding things that are uniquely us.
What was your mom’s reaction to the engagement?
She was so excited! She was the first person I thought of after it happened. I couldn’t wait to show her
Have you started your Pinterest boards yet? If so, what are you looking to find inspiration
for?
Who hasn’t?? I’ve been looking for save the date and wedding invitations inspiration actually. Its something I never thought would be one of my priorities, but I currently have a refrigerator covered in them so I want mine to be special
What was your first thought the day after your engagement?
Did that really happen?? I was definitely still on cloud nine.
