The Louisiana Civil Rights Trail tells the stories of the struggles of African Americans in Louisiana who fought for the rights of citizens to have political and social freedom and equality.
Qualifying sites must have the following:
1. Be associated with events that made a significant contribution to the Louisiana Civil Rights Movement; or
2. Be associated with the life of a person/s who was significant in the Louisiana Civil Rights Movement for oral histories;
3. Preferably open to the public or public view as a tourist attraction, with regular business hours, website and/or promotional materials providing guided or self-guided experiences, or displaying a series of commemorative markers that communicate context for the Louisiana Civil Rights Movement;
