America’s Forests in South Carolina: Sustaining African American Land
About this Event
The Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation is pleased to partner with South Carolina ETV and the ETV Endowment in presenting this special, free debut of “America’s Forests with Chuck Leavell” that was shot right here in the Lowcountry! This program made its national premiere last month in the Oprah Winfrey Theater at the Smithsonian’s National African American Museum in Washington D.C.
You will see the debut of this episode in its entirety – followed by a panel discussion of those who’s stories are featured in this public television program. The program showcases the stories of the Sustainable Forestry and African American Land Retention program – and how its using forestry to help keep land in the family. The program features different local stories that demonstrate how forest habitats are integral to the well-being and economic health of communities across South Carolina and the entire country.
It’s hosted by Chuck Leavell, who is the keyboardist and tours with the Rolling Stones. He’s not only a rock and roll legend…but is himself a forester. Watch a video preview of this incredible and inspiring program, below!
