Looks like cold and flu season is not going away anytime soon. In the South, everything involves a tradition, even getting over a cold has a tradition. For many of us in the South, that tradition includes a Hot Toddy. If you are looking to expand upon you Hot Toddy cures, we have some help from Firefly Spirits.
Firefly Spirits founders Jim Irvin and Scott Newitt built a distillery in the middle of nowhere and made the world’s first sweet tea vodka on Wadmalaw Island (and were a part of my gift bags to my wedding party in 2015). The leader in sweet tea vodka also produces skinny sweet tea vodka and straight vodka. In 2019, Firefly Spirits launched lemonade and ruby red grapefruit, both using all-natural flavors. Firefly also produces moonshine in seven flavors including white lightning, apple pie, caramel, cherry, peach, strawberry and blackberry. An expanded distillery experience is set to open in North Charleston in spring 2020.

Firefly Toddy
Ingredients:
- 2 ounces Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka
- Splash of Peach Moonshine
- 8 ounces hot tea
Preparation:
Place vodka into 1 cup brewed hot tea. Garnish with a lemon wheel.
Honey Pot
Ingredients:
- 2 ounces Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka
- 1 ounce honey liqueur
- Fresh lemons
- Hot black tea
Preparation:
In a mug, muddle 2 lemon wedges. Add Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka, honey liqueur and freshly brewed hot black tea. Garnish with a lemon wheel.
Caramel Coffee
Ingredients:
- 2 ounces Firefly Caramel Moonshine
- 1 cup brewed coffee
Preparation:
Add caramel moonshine into 1 cup brewed coffee. Do not garnish.
Cinnamon Fly
Ingredients:
- 2.5 ounces parts Firefly Sweet Tea Flavored Vodka
- 2.5 ounces Fireball Cinnamon Whisky
- Cinnamon Stick
Preparation:
Heat Firefly in microwave, add Fireball and stir. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.
