A holiday getaway is the perfect time for Southern Belles and her family to enjoy the joyful inspired sightings in a new town or city Instead of seeing your common, yet, unique holiday cheer in your hometown, you should start by planning a getaway that gives you and your family a new outlook on how holidays are celebrated elsewhere. For this reason, I am here today to share a Tuskegee University holiday getaway that features their on-campus resort and a multitude of Black Owned Businesses.
Tuskegee University On-Campus Resort
Located on Tuskegee University campus in Tuskegee, Alabama is the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. This hotel and center serves as a resort for travelers near and far. History of Tuskegee, Alabama
The historic city of Tuskegee, AL, founded in 1833, has increased the awareness of the African American community and highlighted our accomplishments and notable ancestors. From powerful leaders like Rosa Parks who was born in Tuskegee to the first black military aviators in the U.S. Army Air Corps; that we know as the Tuskegee Airmen, Tuskegee has molded African Americans into true history makers. Therefore, when visiting there are a few spots and attractions we must visit as Southern Belles.

Tiger Pause is much more than a regular Coffee Shop. Owned by Alex and Beverly O’Rourke, Tiger Pause provides great Southern vibes and is a spot that many Tuskegee University love to enjoy. With sandwiches, smoothies, coffee, salads, and even beer, wine, and cocktails, Tiger Pause is a place where families can come together to enjoy the Southern cuisine and a place where your Southern Beau can catch up on their scores for the sports games.
Blue Seas 2
Another black owned business that is known for their unique name and delicious dishes is Blue Seas 2. Located along West Martin Luther King Hwy, this dine in restaurant is known for serving their Booker T Turkey Burger and Tuskegee Philly Fish. If these dishes don’t meet your needs, the restaurant also serves flavorful wings and tenders with an array of savory and sweet sauces. Next time you are in Alabama make sure to stop here on your historic excursion.
Tuskegee History Center, a non-profit organization, shares stories about the great city of Tuskegee, Alabama and the history that comes along with it. Originally created to serve as a permanent memorial to the victims and survivors of the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, the center has grown to be so much more since 1996. Now the center demonstrates educational programs, workshops, and museum exhibits.
