Heritage Homes: Culturally Inspired Decor for a COVID Refresh

Heritage Homes: Culturally Inspired Decor for a COVID Refresh

Slowing down from the holidays gives many of us a break from serving as the hostess of our home. We now have a moment away from entertaining guests, preparing guest rooms, and creating a homey environment for those who enter our sanctuary. Therefore, with down time, what do Southern Belles look for to do? Redecorate! Yes, redecoration is now in full effect. We began to take down the Christmas tree and wreath decor, however, when doing so we find that our guest rooms could use a little bit of work. So for the betterment of our guest, we make it our duty to revamp and renew their living area and blogger Jamala has some ideas for us to follow when redecorating our guest room.

“A northern girl with a southern swirl,” Jamala, owner of the blog Viva La Vintage, definitely believes in redecorating and more than ever she believes in reusing, recycling, and recreating a home to fit our personal goals or as she would call it, at this particular time, a COVID refresh.

Ms. Jamala revamping scenario started when her sons flew the coup and a new vision for the space came to be. Of course after missing her children for a while Jamala got the great idea to create a timeless guest room experience with vintage furniture and home decor items, which is her specialty.

The vintage blogger with a Southern flare help create ways to revamp your space and with a few tips and suggestions, based on Ms. Jamala design style and experience, we know that you can change up your space using similar tactics used by this decor blogger.

Tip 1) Old to them, New to you

Vintage items are normally great pieces that are rich in character and oftentimes have been passed down or given up on by someone else. These items have enough personality to guide the design for a room in a different direction and add a unique piece of stylish decor that makes your room more special.

Tip 2) Antique Wall & Table Decor

Ms. Jamala was able to add style to her guest room by adding dresser accessories and wall decor. Therefore, our advice to Southern Belles who need to dress up their room is to use accent pieces to transform the space. Place these antique or vintage decor items on night stands, book shelves, dressers, or the walls to finish off your space.

Tip 3) Accent wall

During the revamping of Ms. Jamala guest room she used the color Domino by Sherwin-Williams to create her accent wall piece. Beside picking the color of the wall, this Southern Belle would most likely suggest to feature art and a creative wall feature on your accent wall to tie the room together. Be creative if you have a wall that has an extra door or weirdly placed window and find a unique way to cover up those “eyesores” like this vintage lover did.
