The Gullah Museum Of Hilton Head Island & Singleton Beach
One of many favorite cities in South Carolina is definitely Hilton Head! From Black history to amazing views, Hilton Head is the place to come when you want to know more about the Gullah history at the Gullah Museum of Hilton Head or pull out your picnic basket to enjoy at Singleton Beach. If one beach visit isn’t enough, check out Bradley, Collier, and Burke beaches in Hilton Head.
Old Dillard Museum & Central Beach
In the midst of Fort Lauderdale, Florida lies two well known locations that our culture can appreciate; the Old Dillard Museum and Central Beach. Since these two locations are approximately 15 minutes away from each other, families can enjoy the historical landmark and education center then maneuver to conclude their evening where we all should go to watch the sunset; Central Beach. Expect to get a historial lesson on the heritage of the first national African-American landmark in Broward County and a tranquil view at Central Beach.
Pin Point Heritage Museum & North Beach, Tybee Island
Close to South Carolina, yet a part of Georgia, is Savannah, GA. Since this city has such close proximity to the South Carolina Lowcountry, it is only right that this city also has a black museum and a beach that our families can explore. Pin Point Heritage Museum, which provides the Gullah/Geechee first hand experience, and North Beach located near Tybee Island, are the perfect destinations for your summer travel excursions. These two locations are just 30 minutes away from one another and perfect for the kiddos to catch a quick nap to enjoy the next event.
Hampton University Museum & Outlook Beach
Beaches and HBCUs should come to mind when thinking of Virginia. The Hampton University Museum, which is the nation’s oldest African American museum and one of the oldest museums in Virginia and Outlook Beach, which is the perfect place for swimming, and relaxing are two places that are only separated by four miles. Enjoy both of these Hampton, Virginia attractions and spend your time later exploring more black known locations.
Chrysler Museum of Art & Community Beach Park
Another popular Virginia location is Norfolk. Home to the Chrysler Museum of Art and Community Beach Park, this Southern city is one to add to your vacation list. The Chrysler Museum of Art will provide you and family with cultural artwork which includes more than 30,000 original works of art that spans over the course of 5,000. While Community Beach Park, which is just 20 minutes away from the museum, allows you to experience the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay while getting some play time with the little ones.
