Holidays with Heritage: DIY Holiday Wreaths with Heritage

Holidays with Heritage: DIY Holiday Wreaths with Heritage

In my house the holidays are the perfect time to showcase my heritage with meaningful and vibrant decorations. It’s a time to teach my children more about our ancestors, family, history, and traditions. With two toddlers I have to find simple and quick decorating ideas that they can do with me.

I love adding indigo to wreaths for a look full of heritage paired with stationery I got from my local farmer’s market.

I love hanging wreaths on every door and fireplace in my home and the more garland the better. So this year, as a family we are adorning wreaths and garlands in textiles that are inspired by our culture and my love for the South. Indigos, plaids, and stationery make a simple and effective holiday heritage statement

I love mixing holiday plaid with indigo to connect my holiday celebration with Gullah heritage. This stationery showcasing classic Angel Oak live oak tree is representative of the Lowcountry landscape I grew up and am proud to raise my children in.

One of my favorite things to collect is art-inspired stationery. Any time I go travel, I have to pick up a few and they are my go-to hostess gift or table decoration and in this case, use them on my wreaths and garlands. From adding a few on a fireplace mantle or placing them on a sideboard garland display, I can never get enough of unique stationery as a part of my holiday decor.  It adds a splash of color,  fun, and sophistication with a lot of heritage and history at the same time.

I love collecting Church fans adding them to my holiday decor.
