BLACK SOUTHERN BELLE INTRODUCES NEW SERIES: BLACK WOMEN IN BBQ 

WALTERBORO, SC – Black Southern Belle (BSB) continues to share the accomplishments of Black Women in the food spaces with the announcement of their new series Black Women in BBQ. The series will explore Black BBQ heritage in the South through the contributions and lens of the women who have made and continue to contribute to the craft. 

“We are looking to continue to shine a light on the contributions of Black women and their impact on American BBQ,” shares Michiel Perry, founder of Black Southern Belle. “As the granddaughter of a hog farmer. I know black women’s role in the BBQ world, from crafting sauces to making meals for their communities. This series will explore and share these women and their legacies.”

Black women have made their mark in the BBQ world throughout history, beginning in the South and permeating into the rest of the nation. BSB has curated a digital experience to pay tribute to these women who fuel the BBQ world. This series will expand on our current editorial content to honor these Black women from the butchers, pitmasters, entrepreneurs, chefs, and ranch owners. The series celebrates this history and heritage, both past and present through editorial, video series, social conversations, and upcoming events throughout the South. Click here to explore the content.
