Three Writers Share 9 Ways They Create a Perfect Summer Story

Three Writers Share 9 Ways They Create a Perfect Summer Story

Authors Zuri Day, Synithia Williams and Darby Baham are Harlequin romance writers with three different literary voices yet share a common vision: Keeping it all about love… Love for reading, writing, living and self-care. Each has their own summer cannot-live-without list, offering you inspiration for a charming summer experience.

ZURI DAY can be found on beaches anywhere between the Caribbean and Southern California. Sun and water are major parts of her regular routine but also super important to her summer fun.

Zuri Day

Favorite Place to Eat

“We can’t go through a summer, or a day, without satisfying our appetites. What better way to do so than with food that is not only delicious but good for us, too? When in Columbia, South Carolina, A Peace of Soul is one of my favorite go-to spots.”

Favorite Body Indulgence:

“Now that we’ve got that perfect summer bod, okay, not quite, but getting there, one of the best ways to make it feel softer and smoother is one of my favorite all-purpose shea butters. Tees Better Butters can be used from head to toe, literally!”

Favorite Wellness Must-have:

“With all the craziness going on in the world, we can all use more positive energy. These MicroWorksStudio aromatic candles not only smell good but attract good vibes and situations into your life. I have one burning in the background as I write my next bestseller…a good situation for sure.”

SYNITHIA WILLIAMS is a summer lover and with good reason. The outdoor enthusiast and nature lover works hard writing novels, working on water quality issues in the Midlands of South Carolina while taking care of her supportive husband and two sons.

Favorite Refreshing Drink:

“Although I’m a big coffee fan, I also love tea. Especially a nice, refreshing tea on a hot summer day. One of my favorite teas is Blow by Flyest Tea Company. This tea not only tastes great, but the blue color gives a little pop of fun in the summer.”

Favorite Place for a Summer Sip:

“Summer isn’t complete without travel and when I travel, I love to find a great place to enjoy a glass of wine. I recently visited Davidson Wine Co., an urban winery in Davidson, NC, and loved the wines. When I discovered the owner also has a wine company in Charleston, SC I knew exactly where I would go during my summer beach trip.”

Favorite Mood Enhancer:

“Finally, as a writer I also like to wind down at the end of the day with a good book. Typically, I have a nice candle burning to set a relaxing mood as I let the stress of the day drift away. The Grey Sweatpants candle by Black Girl Candle Company is the perfect companion for a romance novel.”

Synithia’s SUMMONING UP LOVE was released on April 26, 2022 as a mass-market paperback. You visit the “Saucy Southern Romance” writer online at www.synithiawilliams.com and follow @SynithiaW on Twitter.

DARBY BAHAM thinks of summer and thinks of “brunches and day parties with my girls, trips to the beach, and any excuse to participate in someone’s seafood boil.” Her three summer essentials make Darby feel and look fabulous.

Favorite Beautifier:

“Today’s press-on nails are not like the ones that Tisha Campbell popped off in that iconic Fresh Prince episode; these can come custom-designed, handcrafted, or even just picked out with a bit of flair in mind. And what better time than the summer to rock a pair with bejeweled designs, glitter accents, or bold colors—all with the flexibility and protection that press-ons offer? I recently fell in love with Curves & Sparkle’s handcrafted gel press on nails; they even offer custom sets that you can get sized to fit your nail beds. Instagram: @curvesandsparkle.”

Favorite Summer Sunnies:

“Not too many things can cause someone to instantly stand out better than a pair of stunning sunglasses. Summer just so happens to be the perfect excuse to break out the ones that make you want to take selfies up and down the street as soon as you put them on!  For the designer route, Shades of Shades has gorgeous nude sunglasses designed to match all shades of skin colors. Favorite Summer Statement Bag:

“Whether I’m wearing a sundress or a simple white tee and jeans, a statement bag is often the finishing touch for any summer outfit. Bonus: it helps me carry all my other summer essentials while heading to whatever my next destination is. My multi-colored, handmade Leyelesi crossbody bag has been with me every summer since 2018 and everywhere from France to New Orleans and in between. IG: @leyelesi.”

Darby Baham’s BLOOM WHERE YOU’RE PLANTED was released on May 24, 2022 as a mass-market paperback. Visit www.DarbyBaham.com to learn more about her and her work, and follow @darbybaham on Instagram.

Now that you’ve been properly introduced to Zuri Day, Synithia Williams and Darby Baham, please pick up a few of their books, throw them in your beach bag, try some of their favorites and relax with some romance (reading) for a few hours. Include them in your personal summer story.
