Allright, #Black Southern Belles! Summer is over and hopefully, you took time to travel, rest, relax and regroup. Fall is here and for many of you, it may be a busy season. Whether you are a full-time professional, a mom on-the-go, or a student juggling a full course-load, remember that fall is also a season of harvest. This post aims to provide you with some inspiration you might need to balance your busy schedule, especially as the days seem longer and the time to get everything done seems shorter. Read on for some spiritual encouragement!
This is the principle of the harvest: Whenever you have a need, plant a seed. When a farmer looks at his barren fields, he doesn’t gripe about it. He just goes out and starts planting some seed. If he only has a little bit of seed, he has a choice. He can either hoard it, or he can give it away. If he holds onto it, that’s all he’s got. If he gives it away, God will multiply it. You don’t just reap what you sow. You always reap more than you sow!
This principle of sowing and reaping applies to every area of life, not just your finances. Whatever you sow in life, you’re going to reap. Whatever you deposit is going to be returned to you. If you sow criticism in life, you are going to reap criticism from other people. If you sow kindness, you’re going to reap kindness. It’s the law of the harvest.
We all know that sometimes it takes a while for us to see the fruits of our labor (often months and even years!), and it can be easy to give up and abandon our goals. But the beauty in this harvest season is that you WILL reap what you SOW! So when nothing seems to be going right, and everything seems to be going against you or not working out how you’d like it to, just remember that it’s always better to sow now and reap later. God requires you to do your very best in everything you do, and you must have faith that He will reward your efforts. So if you’re a wife, be the best wife you can be. If you’re a mother, be the best mother you can be. If you’re an entrepreneur, be the best entrepreneur you can be.
And although you will definitely need to encourage yourself sometimes as you experience challenges, it’s also helpful to encourage other people, specifically other women in your life—even women you don’t know. Sometimes it will make you feel better when you know that you’ve made a difference in someone else’s life, however small it may be.
So, Black Southern Belles, remember that there are many memories associated with the fall season: the change in weather, the turning colors of the leaves, a new wardrobe, football, and school activities. But remember that fall is also a season of harvest, and that you should spend some time sowing goodness, kindness, love and all things beautiful so that you can receive those same elements in return. Happy fall, y’all!
Xoxoxo,
– Rhonda
