How did you meet?

We met through my friend, Sarah, and his friend, Jorelle.

How long did you date?

We started dating in 2009 but we broke up in 2010, but after realizing that we needed each other, we started dating again in 2012.

How did he propose?

He proposed in City Market in Savannah, GA. It was right after my birthday, so I didn’t think twice when the band told us to come up on the dance floor for a couple’s dance. After we danced, I was about to leave the dance floor but Ray went and grabbed the microphone. I stood there confused as he started telling about 300+ people about our history and how much he loves me. After about a minute, I then realized what he was doing. After his speech, he walked back onto the dance floor, got on one knee, and proposed!

When did you know he was the one?

We’ve been friends since we met in 2007, so the love just kind of naturally grew. I think the moment when I knew that he was the man I wanted to marry was when I realized that I wanted to protect him. I didn’t want him to feel lonely, sad, or neglected in any way for the rest of his life. He is an extremely precious person to me.

What is the cutest thing he has done for you without you asking?

Recently, I had a bad day at work and it put me in a really sour mood. When I came home that night, he saw my demeanor and immediately reacted. He turned off his game, told me to go get comfortable in the bed, brought me my wine and chocolate, and we were just laying in bed, talking. This made me VERY happy!

What is something you love about him that has completely changed your life?

The fact that he is kind to everyone he meets and he is very social. I can be a bit cold-hearted and I don’t really like to talk to people, but he has made me less shy and more sociable. I actually enjoy talking to people nowadays.

What part of wedding planning made you crazy?

The guest list!

What part of wedding planning could you not live without?

The fact that we had a wedding planner. Andrea Brown was an amazing planner and she made the whole planning process completely stress free.

What was your first thought the day after your engagement?

Time to get a manicure for Facebook!

What was your favorite part about the ceremony?

Raymond’s vows. They were absolutely perfect.

What was your favorite part about the wedding?

The reception! We love our friends and family, so having everyone that we care about come and celebrate such a wonderful day of our lives made our whole day even more perfect than it already was.

Did you do any DIY? If so, what?

My mom and I made my two garters (one for throwing and one to keep). Since I have a particular taste, I figured that making my own would be the best thing, and they turned out great.

What is your favorite part about being married to each other?

I can annoy my best friend for the rest of my life. Ha ha!

What did you learn about each other through the wedding planning process?

He can be VERY patient with me.

What southern traditions did you do at your wedding?

It wasn’t during the wedding, but after the reception it is a tradition in Savannah, GA to go out and party with your wedding party and a few guest while everyone is still in the wedding attire (wedding dress, tuxedo, etc.)

Did you have any southern food on your menu? If so what and why?

The menu was basically nothing but soul food. Mac and cheese, mixed vegetables, blackened chicken, mashed potatoes, and rice. There’s nothing like comfort food during a party!

What southern decor did you include in your wedding?

We didn’t have much of anything that was considered southern (unless you count the sweet tea placed on the tables). We had a Japanese cherry blossom theme.

What did you love about being a southern bride?

The fact that total strangers were coming up and congratulating us as if they were our family or friends. You will only find that kind of love in the south.
