We are absolutely in love with these beautiful shots of the Jefferson #family. They’re a great representation of all the things we love in the south: strong values, manners, and shrimp and grits. It’s our pleasure to share their story today on #Black Southern Belle.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
I really enjoy seeing my daughter’s personality grow and develop.
What do you love about raising your child in the South?
I love that I get to bring my daughter up in a place that strongly values hospitality, respect, and good manners.
What are some of you family’s favorite #southern dishes to eat?
Our family loves seafood–shrimp & grits and crab cakes are favorites in my household.
What southern dish do they only eat if you make it?
 My family loves my grits.
Why did you choose this location to do the family photo shoot?
I chose Legacy Park because it is one of Greenville’s newest, most beautiful beautiful public parks.
What are your favorite lessons to teach your child?
I want my daughter to appreciate the many blessings bestowed upon our lives, and to have compassion for others.
What is your favorite southern activity to do with her?
Attending festivals.
Do you have any favorite restaurants you like to take her?
Another Broken Egg Cafe and Soby’s New Southern Cuisine
What are some of your favorite books you read to her?
Marvin K Mooney and Giraffes Don’t Dance

Mom
What southern values do you hope they inherit as they grow up?
I hope she understands the value of presenting herself as a lady and the respect afforded to those that do so.
What advice did you get from your #mother on #parenting?
My job is to protect her and teach her. If my child likes every decision I make as her parent, I’m probably not being the best parent I can be.
Where did you get some of the clothing items?
Ryan’s top and boots are from JC Penney, and her jeans are from Children’s Place. Dad is dressed in Nautica. Mom’s top and jeans are from Nordstrom Rack, dresses are from Belk.
