Black Heritage Travel: Penn Center Labor Day Celebration on the South Carolina Sea Islands

Black Heritage Travel: Penn Center Labor Day Celebration on the South Carolina Sea Islands
“Tucked in the heart of the South Carolina Sea Islands surrounded by glimmering marshes and nestled beneath the silvery moss-draped limbs of massive live oaks, is Penn Center. It is the site of the former Penn School, one of the country’s first schools for formerly enslaved individuals.”

Looking for something to do or a last-minute trip for Labor Day? You should check out the Labor Day Celebration at the Historic Penn Center.

My husband I love visiting Penn Center for the beauty and history of this majestic site. If you ever get a chance to visit, you will definitely want to come back. Not to mention their farmer’s market has the sweetest vendors and the best shrimp burger in the Lowcountry.
