Friday, June 7th, 2024 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony:
The Weeklong Celebration kicks off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony honoring the new structures in the park. This is a great opportunity to be a part of history and explore the park as you explore the island and Juneteenth activities throughout the week.
Saturday, June 8th, 2024: 5k Run + Walk with Palmetto Running Company
The festivities kick off with a 5k Run/Walk, providing a healthy and energetic start to the celebrations. It’s a chance for families to bond over wellness while experiencing the beauty of the Lowcountry landscapes.

Thursday, June 13th, 2024 Sleepover with Joe McGill
For the history buff, the unique experience of a Sleepover with Joe McGill, a historian and founder of the Slave Dwelling Project, offers an immersive educational experience. McGill’s work in preserving and bringing attention to the history of enslaved people in the United States is profound and impactful. Participants will gain insights into the historical context of Juneteenth, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the significance of this day.

Friday June 14th, 2024 Drum Circle & Fish Fry
The celebration continues with a drum circle, an uplifting and communal musical experience that connects participants to African traditions still practiced in Lowcountry’s Gullah communities.
This is followed by a Fish Fry, a communal feast that embodies Lowcountry and Gullah living. It is a perfect way to experience coastal cuisine with your family.
