Patricia Elaine Sabree, {formally Patricia Elaine McFadden} is the product of Lake City, a small country town carved from the dark earth, located in the low country of South Carolina. Lake City is known for its amazing crop raising, dusky flatland, muddy-swamp wetland, endless fishing, surplus of snakes, and theAGullah people culture. Even though now divorced, Sabree kept her married name,A “Sabree” due to its meaning, “one who perseveres until the job is done,” and theAconnection it gave to her two lovely daughters- Faridah and Ameenah. Sabree andAher fourteen siblings spent most of their youth working onAthe farm.A TheirA parents were loyal sharecroppers who taught their children the value of hardA work. This is certain to be what contributed to their strong craving for education coupled with the desire for another way of life. Living on the farm was very hard, and demanded aAstrength of iron, but looking back it was the best thing that could have ever happened. It gave themA the foundation of good work ethics and made the children strive even harder to obtain an education.

Leon Durham along with his son Kevin Hicks strives to provide quality service to every customer who enters Annie’s Art Gallery. Durham, a native Washingtonian, worked for 28 years with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro). Today, he is the owner/founder of Annie’s Art Gallery. A gallery that started as a home-based business brings quality works of art into each and every home. Their motto is “You Name It…We’ll Frame It”. Annie’s Art Gallery, named after his mother, searches high and low to bring quality framing for customers at reasonable prices. This family-owned business, started over 10 years ago, has supplied customers in the Washington metropolitan area, as well as across the country, with quality custom framing. It was not until he inherited a collection of picture frames from his mother that Durham considered framing as a hobby. This hobby started out as a way to add art work to his home. He started buying art and framing it at his leisure. After giving some of his pieces away to family and friends, and going on the suggestion of a friend he saw something more. Durham started to take the necessary steps to change his hobby into a profession. Durham, who is self-trained, learned everything he knows from reading, studying, attending trade shows, visiting art galleries and attending framing workshops.
