Jones Bar-B-Q Diner

Located in Marianna, Arkansas is Jones Bar-B-Q Diner. This southern favorite restaurant has been open since approximately the 1910s and is believed to be one of the country’s oldest black-owned restaurants. The cuisine of barbecue is a legend unto itself in the Mississippi Delta region and Jones Bar-B-Q Diner has added tasty foods and heritage to the culture of this area. 

History of the Arkansas Delta

The Arkansas Delta is composed of African American history and heritage. Since 1721, African Ameicans have been in the area of Arkansas and now the history continues.  Although slavery lasted until the early 1800s, African American Arkansans impacted the region in the way of life from agriculture to tradition. The Arkansas Delta is known for its acres of land in cotton, rice, soybeans, corn and wheat. This location is a rare jewel alongside the Mississippi River that provides many cities, HBCU fun and food places for us to enjoy.

The Arkansas Delta is an area where you can find African American history and Black-Owned restaurants near and far. In each city of the Arkansas Delta there is an eatery with dishes you as a Black Southern Belle or Black Southern Beau will love to try.
