Favorite thing about being southern:
The culture, food, traditions and small nuances that have been passed along from generation to generation, “ Bless their Yankee hearts….”
What is your personal life motto:
“If a lady remains ready, she’ll never have to get ready when opportunity knocks”
What is the most challenging professional obstacle you have had:
Balance. This single word has been the challenge of being an emerging leader and young professional with larger than life aspirations. It is important to remain true to myself, working tirelessly to gain the respect and influence amongst the masses while also enjoying life, family, and friends. (Don’t we all, something we can all work on as #Black Southern Belles)
Who is your favorite character a “Different World”?
Whitley Gilbert (Yes that is her in the pic below!!!!) and Kimberly Reese tie for favorite in my book, as I and friends often laugh at the similarities between Kim and myself nevertheless, every SOUTHERN GIRL loves Miss. Whitley Gilbert… me going so far as to living in what was the façade of “Gilbert Hall” while a student at Spelman.
If you could do any job, what would that be?
One day I wish to join the ranks of my Spelman sister, Dr. Audrey Forbes Manley, and Morehouse brother, Dr. David Satcher as a United States Surgeon General.
Who do you wish you could meet?
Though I have been extremely blessed to work with some of the worlds most influential people, one person I would wish to meet would “Momma O,” Ms. Oprah Gail Winfrey.
What would your best friend say is the best/most annoying quality about yourself?
LOL, so I literally called and asked her the question, “You are a very giving and loyal person who regardless of your circumstances will help those in needs…. And fortunately for you, you don’t annoy me.”
What advice would you give your younger college self?
“Put yourself and your studies first at all times; take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself, and enjoy and journal about everything!”
