Title:
Executive Assistant to David Drummond – SVP of Corporate Development and Chief Legal Officer
Company/Org:
Google Inc.
Hometown:
Atlanta, GA
Alma Mater:
Spelman College
Favorite thing about being southern:
Entertaining. From the guest list, to food, drinks, and decorations, hosting is one of my favorite activities! (Make sure we are on your next invite!)
What is your personal life motto:
Live. Laugh. Love.
What is the most challenging professional obstacle you have had?
Navigating in an ambiguous environment can definitely be challenging. I am a planner and like to remain organized, but my job consists of managing many moving parts. Honestly, it is what I like most. No day is the same. I don’t always have the answers, so thinking creatively and being resourceful is key!
Who is your favorite character a “Different World”?
Whitley! Obviously 🙂 (We must agree there as well)
If you could do any job, what would that be?
The ideal job would combine my strengths (superb organization, excellent communication, detail orientation, and creative problem solving) with my passions (traveling, event planning, giving back and helping others). Luckily millennials tend to dabble in many things, so I am confident that I can engage in these different activities whether it be within or outside of the workplace.
Who do you wish you could meet?
My first thought was First Lady Michelle Obama, but as I reflect on my current position, I would really enjoy meeting my Spelman Sister Kristen Jarvis. Kristen is the First Lady’s right hand. Having supported an executive for almost 5 years, I understand the knowledge that one gains from being around an influential person. Plus, I am confident that we would bond over the ups and downs that come along with our positions. There is obviously so much that I could learn directly from the First Lady, but learning from those closest to a person you admire certainly provides a unique perspective.
What would your best friend say is the best/most annoying quality about yourself?
My bestie would probably say that my best qualities are that I’m passionate and giving. This applies to all areas of my life. She would probably list my love for shopping as an area for improvement.
What advice would you give your younger college self?
Learn as much as you can, about as many things as you can. Being intellectually curious is the key to success!
