How did you meet? Â
We met at Furman  University it was Daniel’s freshman year. I was visiting the campus for a multicultural event and she was also considering the University. After the event, my mentor introduced her to other students on campus.  My mentor (Alicia McDaniels) who was also Daniel’s friend at the time, introduced the two of us on April 17, 2009.
How long have you dated?
Six  years and eight months. Daniel asked me to be his girlfriend while sitting in his tan 1995 Altima. It was late at night on a school night on November 5, 2009.
How did he propose?
It was my 25th birthday and he secretly invited all of my family and friends to dinner. Once it was time for me to open my gift from him he hid my ring in an apple watch box. Once I opened it I was confused because I thought it was a watch but I saw a ring.  Then we all went to the Universoul Circus in Charlotte North Carolina and appeared on stage as a special guest during an intermission act. Â
When did you know he was the one?
When he bought me a dog! I had been asking for a dog for years! We named him Bezo, which is Daniel’s father’s middle name.
What is the cutest thing he has done for you without you asking?
Helped me take out my braids, it was late at night and he saw that I was struggling and my frustration after three hours. Â
What is something you love about him that has completely changed your life?
His relationship with God that inspires me on my walk with Christ. He started a football bible study at Furman and it was a blessing to see how he inspired his other teammates on the field and spiritually.
What part of wedding planning is making you crazy?
Finding a wedding dress, like any bride I want to find the RIGHT ONE, and finding the right dress takes time and patience.
What part of wedding planning can you not live without?
Budgeting , my fiance helps keep me straight and level headed. This is why we are the perfect match because he is the nerd when it comes to our ConsolidationNow finances and I am the free spirit.
What was your first thought the day after your engagement?
He got me exactly what I wanted! A rose gold ring by Verragio. We went to look at rings a few times and every time we went I would go back to the rose gold collection and he said he wouldn’t get it because it was too expensive. Â But just like my puppy I got exactly what I wanted!!
What did you love about taking engagement pictures?
I loved that we were able to take it on the campus where we first met. We have a lot of memories around Furman’s campus.
Who did you tell first about your engagement?
My colleagues from graduate school Ashley Creft and Madison Byrd.
Are you used to the ring yet?
Yes! I freak out when I take it off, and I am always checking to make sure it is placed just right on my finger.
How many times do you accidentally say girlfriend instead of fiance in a day?
One Sunday when I was talking to an old friend I said it twice in one conversation but now I am used to the term, I can’t wait to introduce her as my wife.
