Favorite thing about being southern
My favorite thing about the south is southern hospitality. Manners and kindness go a long way in everyday life; it’s always uplifting to be around positive, pleasant people.
What is your personal life motto
My personal motto is: throw around kindness like confetti. We can’t control the challenges or people that life throws at us, but if we meet each obstacle with kindness – things are more likely to succeed and end on a positive note.
What is the most challenging professional obstacle you have had?
The most challenging professional obstacle I dealt with was relocating for work. I moved to Dallas, Texas without family and had to start over. It took a few months of time, but I got active in the community and took on more responsibility at the office in order to get acclimated. I ended up meeting new people and through expanding my network made some friends along the way. Dallas ended up knocking me off my feet. I now consider it home and can’t imagine leaving.
Who is your favorite character on a “Different World”?
My favorite character on A Different World is Miss Whitley. I absolutely love her wardrobe! Her sweet and sassy personality is full of southern charm, and she is the most well-mannered of the group (at least, she tries to be)!
If you could do any job, what would that be?
If I could have any job it would be traveling the world to various fashion events and raising money for philanthropic causes. My heart is in the fashion world, but I’ve always had a strong tie to the community. I would love to be able to bring both interests together and get paid to make the world a better, and more stylish place.
Who do you wish you could meet?
I would love to meet Tyra Banks. Tyra is one of my role models. I admire her drive, accomplishments, and all the barriers she’s broken through during her amazing career in the fashion industry. Tyra is a mogul and there is so much wisdom she has from her life experiences. I would love to hear about what is next in store for her and how she makes her dreams come true.
What would your best friend say is the best/most annoying quality about yourself?
My best friend would say my best quality is my eternal optimism. I always see the glass as half full. My most annoying quality is my ambition. I sometimes take on too much and tend to stretch myself too thin.
What advice would you give your younger college self?
