What began as a scrapbook of recipes for her children culminated into Mama Doonk’s Gullah Recipes, named for her grandmother from whom she learned her cooking skills. She is a recipient of President Obama’s Drum Major for Volunteer Award, a Docent at the Old Slave Mart Museum in Charleston, SC, a Gullah Storyteller and Certified Charleston Tour Guide. She has spoken at museums, schools, city halls, and many historic venues. She has traveled to many European Countries and Canada. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University and is a retired Equal EmploymentOpportunity and Diversity Manager. Theresa and her husbandFranklin are the parents of three children and 10 grandchildren.
