There is nothing I love better than a gallery wall, I love to fill mine with Black art, family photos, local artists, and special memories. Today, I want to show you how to create a beautiful and easy Modern Gallery Wall with DIY Framing & Favorite Local Artists as the perfect decoration in your home. I love supporting local artists and can’t get enough of holiday decor so this is a perfect way to blend them together.
Heritage Holiday: How to Create a Gallery Wall for Christmas
The piece in the middle is one of my favorites from Lowcountry native, Jonathan Green and is a a part of his Lowcountry Rice Culture Series and is signed by the artist himself. It is one of my prized possessions and a family heirloom I hope to pass down to my children for them to enjoy with their family and friends.
I have had this print of an okra soup recipe print for a while and picked it up from my local farmers market. I put this together by covering a blank canvas in Tartan and placing the recipe card on top. I plan on framing this to go in the kitchen of my new home but wanted to include this classic Gullah recipe into my holiday decor.
Additionally, I purchased this print or a Freedmen’s Cottage in Charleston, SC from the SC Artisan’s Center located in the town where I live, Walterboro, SC, and still can’t decide on how I want it to be framed. So in the interim, I have added it to my holiday decor so I can enjoy it versus having it sick in my storage. Art is meant to be enjoyed and not just stored, is definitely my motto.
If you love are and find yourself collecting prints, and don’t have the time, budget, or energy to get them framed yet, here is a fun way to enjoy your art collection for the holidays.
