Over the past holiday season, my husband and I got to explore a part of South Carolina that I did not know much about. Although growing up in the Summerville, SC I was only a few hours away, I had never been to the Hammock Coast and I am sad I have missed out on it. From beautiful gardens, unique shopping, gorgeous coastlines and of course great food, the Hammock Coast is a place I will definitely be back soon. Check out some of the higlights from my trip below:
1)Brookgreen Gardens: This was an absolutely beautiful and unique experience. I cannot tell you how beautiful the Night of 1000 Candles was and how beautiful the gardens are even at night. There were great musical shows, food options and even wine (always a plus on a cold winter night) Read more about Brookgreen Gardens here.
2)Huntington Beach State Park: This beach is perfect for relaxing getaway. It has the beauty of SC marshland, waterfront views and even a Spanish Castle called Atalaya. If you are looking for a unique location for a sorority party, wedding or family reunion, definitely add this to your list. Learn more here.
3)Hobcaw Barony: Anyone who knows me, knows I love history. If you are looking to take a step back into time Hobcaw Barony is your place. This 16,000 acre property is a research reserve that includes over 70 cultural sites on the plantation including cemeteries, slave cabins, and the Baruch’s homes all provide a time capsule for educators. Read more here.
4) Kaminski House Museum Tour: This was one of the highlights of my trip. I love traditional southern decor and the Kaminski House. delivered just that. This tour was full of history and has a great gift store to pick up local and artisan gifts. Also, if you are a bride looking for a beautiful location to have your wedding or bridal shower, be sure to add this to your list and check out one of our favorite engagement features as well. Check out a few of the highlights from my tour below and learn more about this location here. (Tour Images by Adrienne J Cooper Photography)
5) Inlet Sports Lodge: If you are looking for a relaxed and chic Hammock Coast experience, be sure to stay at Inlet Sports Lodge. My room was spacious, had plenty of amenities and a great view of the interior garden and lounge. Learn more about this place here.
6)Food: If you are on the hunt for good seafood, the Hammock Coast has you covered. Here are few places that we loved on this trip:
Caledonia Golf and Fish Club Perfect place for a great lunch sandwich and golf to burn off some of those calories.
Bistro 217: This restaurant was a perfect mix of modern southern cuisine and had a chic but laid back atmosphere. Perfect for a date night or girlfriends getaway. I am still dreaming about the bread basket and pimento cheese!
BisQit: These biscuits are worth every calorie. Nestled in the Hammock Shops, this cafe is perfect to get a quick bite for shopping.
7) Georgetown Shopping Tour: I love antiques and shopping wherever I go and Georgetown has an adorable downtown area for just that. Here are some great places we visited: Bienvenue Home Decor, Gifts and Garden, Tomlinsons, and Augustus & Carolina.
