Heritage Travels: Gullah Culture in the Hammock Coast

Heritage Travels: Gullah Culture in the Hammock Coast

Over the past holiday season, my husband and I got to explore a part of South Carolina that I did not know much about. Although growing up in the Summerville, SC I was only a few hours away, I had never been to the Hammock Coast and I am sad I have missed out on it. From beautiful gardens, unique shopping, gorgeous coastlines and of course great food, the Hammock Coast is a place I will definitely be back soon. 6)Food: If you are on the hunt for good seafood, the Hammock Coast has you covered. Here are few places that we loved on this trip:

Caledonia Golf and Fish Club Perfect place for a great lunch sandwich and golf to burn off some of those calories.

Bistro 217: This restaurant was a perfect mix of modern southern cuisine and had a chic but laid back atmosphere. Perfect for a date night or girlfriends getaway. I am still dreaming about the bread basket and pimento cheese!

BisQit: These biscuits are worth every calorie. Nestled in the Hammock Shops, this cafe is perfect to get a quick bite for shopping.

7) Georgetown Shopping Tour: I love antiques and shopping wherever I go and Georgetown has an adorable downtown area for just that. Here are some great places we visited: Bienvenue Home Decor, Gifts and Garden, Tomlinsons, and Augustus & Carolina.
