Mardi Gras Traditions You Must Try from a New Orleans Native

Want to experience Mardi Gras like a New Orleans Native? We have just what you need with help from Lynn Wesley Coleman, lifestyle blogger, HBCU Graduate, and New Orleans Native. She is an expert at all things Mardi Gras and gave us her tips for how to experience Mardi Gras. Check out her tips below!

Lynn Wesley-Coleman is a New Orleans native, who is also a wife and busy mom of two. Lynn is an unapologetic Generation X mom living in a Millennial world. She is a Xavier graduate with a BS in Business Management, who is currently a Human Resources Manager for a U.S. based petroleum and storage company. She is also a food enthusiast and quintessential tastemaker, who has been blogging in the city for years. Lynn’s favorite saying is ‘ You can’t do epic things on an empty stomach’.

Mardi Gras Traditions You Must Try from a New Orleans Native

1.Parades have always been a tradition in my family. I love the Zulu parade on Mardi Gras day and the all female parades.

2. Eating Fried Chicken on Popeyes day. Louisiana has so many awesome restaurants but Popeyes is open on Mardi Gras day and hang out nearby Dooky Chase restaurant on Mardi Gras day https://www.dookychaserestaurants.com

3. Dressing up in Mardi Gras wear and taking professional photos and King Cake on Kings Day. My favorite King Cakes this year are Antoines King and Queen Cakes and Traditional King Cake at  BSweet Bistro

 4. Building floats with my kids using shoe boxes. They are usually requested for projects at schools in the area.

5.Mardi Gras cocktails are always a great idea. Many restaurants have them and you can also make them easily.
