Maximalist Decor Inspiration from Texas Designer, Veronica Solomon

My design style is definitely more is more. I am all about layers, mixing styles, multiple gallery walls, and the list goes on and Veronica Solomon of Casa Vilora Interiors embodies that style for me. This Houston, Texas designer with Jamaican roots, does maximalist decor the right way and her Instagram page is definitely one you want to follow. Check out her beautiful design work below and get plenty of inspiration on adding maximalist style to any room in your home.

“I believe that everyone deserves to have their version of luxury in their home. The Dictionary defines luxury as “The State of  Great Comfort and Extravagant Living”. That might be true, but the luxury that I bring to each project is “Conscious Living; It’s Experiential; It’s Comfort; It’s Privacy; It’s Convenience; It’s…………Whatever Makes Your Heart Sing”. You get to define what luxury is to you.”

Curtains For Days: I grew up with a mom obsessed with curtains. In my book, the longer the better and you can never have enough color or shine. If you want to add maximalist style to any room, go overboard with curtains.

Mix and Match Styles: From curated art to a vintage book collection, don’t be afraid to pair various styles in your home or put your favorite pieces in unusual places. Use some neutral pieces such as a wrong or side table to anchor your collection of styles, textures, and colors into a maximalist nook that will enhance any space.

Gallery Wall Gone Wild: A gallery wall is a great way to anchor a maximalist room by creating a focal point for guests to engage with and to balance the other design elements in the space. Use a classic piece such as a gold mirror or family painting to be the centerpiece of the wall and tell the story of the room. Above all else, have fun with and don’t be afraid to express your unique life story and personality through your gallery wall and to it as you collect throughout the years.

Animal Prints Are Always In: Looking for a way to add bold style to a room such as your office or dining room, animal print is the answer. Paired with a bold velvet pillow, an animal print chair or table linen is exactly what you need to add maximalist style to your everyday room.

Coffee Table Fun: I have a slight obsession with coffee tables and may have 3 on my front porch. They are the perfect place to show off your personality including your favorite books, family heirlooms, gifts from places you have traveled or even fresh flowers you picked from your back yard. It is also an easy place to add maximalist style without breaking the budget.
