The Richmond Night Market is an African American-owned and operated market co-founded by Adrienne Cole Johnson and Melody Short. Normally a monthly event that takes place in Richmond, VA in one of the city’s most historical sites, the RVA Night Market team decided to pivot instead of postpone or cancel to keep the market alive and thriving. Bringing together creativity, commerce and community, the next 2nd Virtual Richmond Virtual Night Market Experience will take place Saturday, May 9 from 5-10 pm on Instagram Live (@richmondnightmarketva) to introduce people tuning in from all over the world to talented independent artists.
The highly anticipated virtual experience will feature independent artists and small businesses showcasing their work in an innovative virtual format. Attendees at home can learn about what inspires the creation of a piece of art and be given the chance to purchase the art whenever they want from their home.
There will be four different areas that can be experienced throughout the evening including the Artisan Village that will feature a shopping experience with over 20 independent artisans and small business owners from Mid-Atlantic, Northeast regions, Puerto Rico and Sweden; Creative Kids Hangout that offers an interactive session for families powered by VPM/ PBS; Main Stage with music by Brooklyn-based DJ Monday Blue who will be spinning vinyl and an acoustic set by Mighty Joshua; and Maker Space where attendees will have the opportunity to witness a masterpiece created by internationally acclaimed visual artist S. Ross Browne.
