What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
My favorite part about being a mom is having conversations with the boys. They always have something funny and interesting to say. I also love being involved in the things they are involved in.
What do you love about raising your children in the South?
Raising the boys here is the best of all worlds. We have access to the city, but we live in the slower paced outskirts. We’re close enough to the ocean that we could take a day or weekend trip.
Which do they only eat if you make?
The boys love macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, chicken and rice (pirleau), and fresh butter beans. They love to eat!
Why did you choose this location to do the family photo shoot?
We chose the location for our family shoot for two reasons: 1) the boys love the beach 2) our fabulous photographer was located there.
What are your favorite lessons to teach your children?
To use good manners. To speak clearly. To be gentlemen.
Do you have any favorite restaurants you like to take them?
Redbone Alley – it’s a little over an hour from where we live, but the boys love it.
What are some of your favorite books you read to them?
One of our favorites that I’ve read to both boys since before they were born is “Oh, the Place You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss.
Who styled the children for this shoot?
I did.
What southern values do you hope they inherit as they grow up?
It is my hope that my boys continue being gentlemen, take pride in who they are and where they come from and develop the resilience and resolve to know they can do and be anything they set their minds to.
What advice did you get from your mother on parenting?
