Like most Black Southern Belles, I indulge in way too many home décor blogs and books. One of my favorite sites is The Inspired Room created by Melissa, a woman dedicated to helping you bring to life your home, your way. I had the pleasure of reading her book Love the Home you Have which covered topics ranging from room make-overs to creating a home with your own personal style.
Here are some great ideas I learned from reading Love the Home you Have:
Savoring the Season (Winter):
Winter is not over. Enjoy recipes with seasonal fruits and vegetables. Create a nesting notebook. Enhance your home with your favorite scents from diffusers, candles, and oils – the smells of baking and cooking can warm your home. Though winter will be coming to an end very soon, savor the chills just a little while longer.
Embrace the Holidays:
Create new family traditions around the holidays, use fresh greenery, ideas for using holiday decorations (without them becoming an eye-sore), create a holiday play list.
New Year/Refresh Your Home Ideas:
Use bright colors and textures that refresh your home, tips to organize your closet and drawers, ideas for decorative lighting during winter months, creating aroma and sounds to comfort during the often gloomy months.
Create a Welcoming Entrance to Your Home:
During the holidays, we often entertain more company. Learn to create an inviting space that is not cluttered but has a personal touch. Porch lights and entry lights are essential. Fun doormats, colorful rug, art or accessories make for a good conversation starter). Organize an area for shoes, coats and backpacks
