What do you love about southern decor?

There are no limits to southern decor. I love how you can take any combination of styles and patterns to create a beautiful space filled with character that is welcoming for family and friends.

What is your favorite room to decorate and why?

I love to see a dramatic transformation in a kitchen. There are endless ways to add character to your room from cabinet color and countertops to lighting, furniture, and kitchen decor.

What home decor item is a must-have to you?

A house is not a home without an extensive collection of throw pillows. Throw pillows are a low cost way to incorporate a variety of textures and patterns into your space and you can easily change them out with the seasons.

If you could only shop in one store for your home which would it be and why?

Amazon.com. Amazon is a retail powerhouse and a one-stop shop for your home. I love it for its vast selection and fast shipping options. I’ve gotten everything from bathroom faucets to utensil holders in just a few clicks on Amazon.

Do you have a favorite fabric pattern or color? Why?

Velvet is my favorite fabric. It adds a luxurious feel to the space and, it can absolutely be used in both cool and warmer weather. My favorite pattern to use is thick, bold stripes. Stripes add dimension to a room and serve as a good base when you’re mixing patterns.

My favorite color to use in a home is black. I love its versatility – you can use it in both casual and more formal spaces.

What is your favorite southern dish? Why?

Hands down, a full BBQ spread – brisket, sausage, potato salad, beans, and bread.

What are some of your favorite southern decor brands and why?

Southern Living, the brand, is much more than a magazine. From the pages of their magazine, to social media, and the website you can get enviable southern decor and entertaining ideas.

What is your favorite room in your home?

My favorite room is my bedroom. I kept the bedroom clean and clutter-free with a duotone, black and white color scheme and minimal but impactful furniture.

What is your favorite DIY project for a client?

I designed a room with a DIY shiplap wall for the living room in a client’s renovation project. I took a note out of the book by friend-in-my-head and southern decor queen, Joanna Gaines. The plan called for unfinished, thin pieces of wood to leave minimal marking on the walls.

Describe your decor style in one sentence?

Crisp, clean southern eclectic … styled with champagne taste on a boxed wine budget!
