The leaves have started to change. The chill has become slightly more noticeable. The smell of the ensuing holiday celebrations is in the air. For us fashionable Southern Belles, that signals the time that we must transition from our breezy maxis and skirts to an outfit that will accommodate the change in seasons. With this change however, it is imperative that our style maintains the same level of class that only a Southern Belle can be known for.
To help with the transition, here are a couple tips that can take your summer wear, into a cool Fall fit:
Fall Hats- The beautiful thing about hats is that there are essentially always in style. With the resurgence of the 70s trends this season, one hat in particular has taken center stage. Affectionately called the “floppy hat” by the majority, this hat is a cross between the traditional cartwheel and vagabond styles. While being extremely popular in the summer, the look can easily transition into Fall by simply investing in one that is a felt or wool blend in an ecru, rust, olive, or a beautiful olive.
Scarves- Another favorite all four seasons, scarves are a lovely way to layer and stay warm for chilly mornings or afternoons, without having to pile too much on. Just as with the “floppy hat,” the change in color and fabric will be key to make this an addition to your Fall fit. Choosing a thicker fabric like a jersey, wool, or even cashmere in a fun, Autumn-esque print will not only add warmth, but dimension and color to any outfit.
Trench Coats- A great trench coat can also live in several seasons. Choosing a coat that possibly has a heavier lining or speaks to the Fall colors of the season could totally take an outfit from feeling to summery, to having just the right amount coverage.
Booties- No matter the season, a great shoe can truly make an outfit sing! For the Fall, the bootie is that shoe style. The great thing abou the bootie is that is can be taken from night to day, work to play, and from Fall to Winter without a blink. Booties are also great in any heel height. For this style addition, staying with a neutral (brown or black) or going the gusto for a fierce print (my favorite is leopard), will certainly take your Fall look to the next level!
Fall is a beautiful season, and by using these simple style adds, enjoying the colder months of the year will be a smooth and easy transition…enjoy the weather fashionistas!
