How did you meet?
At work (Texas Children’s Hospital)
How long did you date?
Three years
Engagement Date:
December 3, 2012
When did you know he was the one?
Early in the relationship, during his interactions with my infant daughter. He came in and treated her as if she was his own.
What is the cutest thing he has done for you without you asking?
He purchased me a video camera, so that I would be able to capture all of my daughter’s milestones.
What is something you love about him that has completely changed your life?
I love that he is easy to love. We don’t have a dramatic story to tell, no fussing and fighting. Our relationship is totally relaxed. Neither of us are use to love being so easy.
What part of wedding planning is making you crazy?
The part of wedding planning that made me crazy, was trying to keep the guest list under 300 people.
What part of wedding planning can you not live without?
Honeymoon planning. No honeymoon=no wedding!
What was your first thought the day after your engagement?
After he proposed, my first thought was, “Let’s elope”!
What was your favorite part about the ceremony?
My favorite part of the ceremony was when my dad gave me away, then he put on his pastoral robe and became the officiant. My father is a Southern Baptist Preacher.
What was your favorite part about the wedding?
My favorite part of the wedding was the reception. We partied hard!!
Wedding Colors:
Eggplant and Gray
Wedding Theme:
Traditional New Orleans
What is your favorite part about being married to each other?
It feels awesome to come home to your best-friend every night. We laugh at lot!
What did you learn about each other through the wedding planning process?
He learned that, if I am going to do something, I am going to do it right. I learned that he is very passive and he trusts my decisions.
Did you have any southern specific details to your wedding?
The menu items definitely reflect the culture of the city. In addition to the food, a jazz band performed immediately after the ceremony. Additionally, we sent our guests home with praline candy favors and handkerchiefs which were used during the “second-line” at the end of the reception.
What is your favorite southern dish from the menu?
Out of the eighty DELICIOUS items on the menu, that were passed continuously throughout the evening, the praline glazed chicken, was our absolute favorite!
What was your favorite thing about having a southern wedding?
My husband was born and raised in New Orleans and I went to college in New Orleans, so we felt that it would only be right, to get married in a place that we both LOVE!
