Tips for a Southern Wedding in the Smoky Mountains

Tips for a Southern Wedding in the Smoky Mountains 4

Have you dreamed of having a southern mountain wedding? We have too! Today we are sharing a few tips on how to host the best mountain wedding this side of the Mississippi. And if you are are bride in the market of finding a top venue, make sure to check out one of our favorites in Great Smoky Mountains, TN, The Lodge at Brother’s Cove.

1. Keep your guests cool:

Getting married down south means sunshine and warm weather! Take care of your wedding attendees by serving a customized cocktail or sweet tea when your guests arrive before the ceremony or handing out personalized fans (we love these from Etsy).

2. Plan Fun Activities:

It’s always great to suggest an activity on-site (in this case a group hike would be amazing!) for everyone to participate in to kick off the wedding weekend. For our wedding it was really fun because some of the guests chose to stay longer, and most of our family stayed on-site in all of the Handpicked Homes. My husband Bryan’s family all wanted to have the full Natural Retreats experience, so we set them up with a guide to learn how to fly fish!

3. Personalize It:

Monograms go a long way, especially down south! It also helps you pull your theme together, from napkins to plastic cups to the aisle runner, etc.

4. Go Local:

Show them everything that your local town has to offer with customized favors. Maybe it’s a local brew, a recipe for your favorite dessert with a heart-shaped cookie cutter, or a trinket with meaning (think elephants if they’re your favorite animal or a silver plated Longhorn tray if you’re in Texas). Essentially highlight what makes you special as a couple.
