How did you meet?
We grew up in the same church and our families knew each other before we were born but we never talked to each other until August 2011 when we exchanged numbers through a mutual friend.
How long did you date?
3 years before he proposed and we were engaged for 15 months
How did he propose?
Told me to pack an overnight bag and get dressed for dinner reservations. We are dinner at Bentley’s on 27th and he proposed at dinner. We checked into our room at Aloft in the epicenter and went bar hopping to celebrate where we ran into Ruben Studdard in a random bar!! We had already planned to have our parents over for Sunday dinner but had no clue that we would be celebrating our engagement when we made the plans for them to come over
When did you know he was the one?
When I saw how well we got along with each other’s family and how much he cares about his mother and great aunt
What is the cutest thing he has done for you without you asking?
When he surprised me with a weekend beach trip for my birthday and told me to pack a bag that morning when I thought he was scheduled to work all day.
What is something you love about him that has completely changed your life?
His protective nature. I’m a daddy’s girl and used to ask my dad to do things for me but Travis stepped in and has made my dad feel comfortable enough to trust that he will take care of me just as my dad would.
What part of wedding planning is making you crazy?
Making sure that every detail of the wedding was exactly what WE wanted and not just my own vision for our wedding day
What part of wedding planning can you not live without?
My “bride book,” complete with sheet protectors and dividers to keep every magazine cutout, receipt, invoice, and contract on hand for quick reference.
What was your first thought the day after your engagement?
I needed to deactivate my facebook and let all of my family and friends know to ensure that all of my loved ones found out from us personally rather than on social networks.
What was your favorite part about the ceremony?
When he surprised me with a song by Jaheim that he worked on with his cousin for months leading up to the wedding. His cousin was a groomsman but actually played the keyboard as Travis sung
What was your favorite part about the wedding?
the reception was a huge party for everyone and I taught my parents how to “whip”, “dougie”, “nae nae”, “stanky leg”, and “bop” for our father/daughter dance mix that my mom joined in on!!
Did you do any DIY? If so, what? Place cards and programs

What did you learn about each other through the wedding planning process?
The importance of budgeting money, patience, communication, and compromise
Nothing beats a good church wedding and party to follow in the South. We loved all the details in Allyson and Travis’ wedding and wish them many more years of happiness, love and fun!
