Ambience is key. No matter how big or small the event, make sure to incorporate rustic ambiance into all of the details.

Lighting is Key: Lanterns are an easy way to add soft lighting to your dinner party. Try black or copper lanterns for a rustic style.
Bubbly Is Always a Must: Be sure to pair wines from rustic regions and bourbons and whiskeys for your guests chilled to temperature ahead of time.
Add A Menu Card: Using natural colors and fabrics are great options for a menu card and table settings for a rustic-inspired dinner.
Use classic and simple florals for a rustic dinner party. For a little drama add height with tall vases.
Use White Dishware to show off your plates and to contrast the rustic style with a clean crisp focal piece.
